Principal's Welcome
Education is a process that embraces the whole of life. Here at Pedare Christian College we focus particularly on the spiritual, educational, physical and social development of each child.
We seek to grow as a professional learning community where staff, students and parents work in partnership towards quality educational outcomes.
Pedare is nationally recognised for Values Education and as a Safe Schools Framework School. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program sets Pedare apart from other schools in the north eastern area, with a stimulating program that provides children with skills, knowledge and confidence to make a difference in the world.
Pedare is also heading into an exciting building phase with the construction at the Junior Schooling Campus of an Administration Centre and refurbishment of the current Resource Centre and car park. The Surrey Farm Campus (Middle and Senior Schooling) will see the addition of Middle Schooling classrooms, a new Science laboratory, Design Technology Studio and Common Area ICT Resources. Future Master Plan Strategic Developments will follow soon after at both campuses.
I invite you to consider opportunities for your child at Pedare Christian College.

Dr Edward Groughan (PhD, MEd, BEd, DipT PhysEd) is an experienced educator of demonstrated achievement and calibre who is leading our College into the future as a vibrant, globally orientated learning community.
His doctoral thesis in history, ‘Changing attitudes to the Great War’, examined an Australian national curriculum during a period of significant societal change. The thesis argued that the fundamental values of any society are conveyed in the education of the next generation.
Dr Groughan has over 17 years experience as a teacher and administrator with appointments at:

- Dr Groughan returned to Perth in 2006 for a sabbatical year during which he wrote a book and taught part time at Christ Church Grammar School. During the year he also served as the Acting Assistant Director of Studies.
He has a special focus on promoting the dramatic and performing arts to complement scholarship and physical well-being. He views the unique ties of the College to the traditions of both the Anglican and Uniting Churches as the spiritual ‘touchstones’ for all in the Pedare Christian College community.
In addition to his passion for education, Dr Groughan has been an active sportsman having competed in the Hawaiian Ironman World Championship, and numerous marathons and ocean swimming events. In his youth he represented New South Wales in schoolboy rugby and later played in the Sydney First Grade Rugby competition. He is married to Krystie Hannah and has four children ranging in age from newborn to 18.
