Drama

The Drama culture at Pedare Christian College has continued to grow throughout 2008. In addition to several performances being staged, two Drama Clubs have been now been started for students with a desire to create and perform.  Drama

A variety of dramatic techniques cultivate skills in character development, stage presence and script analysis through monologues and group performances. Junior Schooling drama and musical presentations are part of the Pedare culture and access to two drama theatres at the Surrey Farm Campus enhances student enjoyment and success. Drama is offered as a subject to all year levels at the Surrey Farm Campus.

In May 2008, Senior Schooling Drama students performed short scenes and plays as part of the Autumn Arts Concert, including a Grimm Tales version of ‘Snow White’ and a preview of the upcoming Year 11 Drama production. The evening was very successful and the Drama faculty look forward to presenting a second evening of performances from Drama students in Term 4 this year.

DramaThe Year 11 Drama class presented a production of Michael Gow’s ‘All Stops Out’ in Term Two this year. The Senior students are currently preparing for their second semester performances. Year 10 Drama students also have the opportunity to create several short performances throughout the year using their knowledge of musical theatre, Realism, Asian shadow puppetry and Commedia dell’Arte.

Middle and Senior Schooling Drama Clubs are a new addition to the College in 2008, with a focus on building performance skills, interacting with fellow students, and having fun. Elements of both Drama Clubs include theatre games, scriptwriting, costume design, rehearsal and performance.

The Arts faculties of both the Junior and Surrey Farm campuses are looking forward to staging musicals during 2009, in which students will be encouraged to participate.
