Principal’s Welcome

Senior School students experience a curriculum that is broad, flexible, challenging and diverse. We inspire our students to develop knowledge, skills, capabilities and attitudes relevant to their aspirations, and we take pride in offering pathways to success for all students. In Years 11 and 12 students complete Stages 1 and 2 of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). Our focus on academic success is underpinned by exceptional staff who challenge students to push the limits of what they believe to be possible.

Learning is designed to foster innovation, collaboration and creativity as we prepare students for success in an increasingly connected and interdependent world.

Our rigorous academic program is complemented by a broad and diverse range of extra-curricular opportunities. This allows every student to explore their passions creatively, in an environment where they are encouraged to unlock and grow their unique gifts and talents. The College motto is Let your Light Shine, and every student is provided with the opportunity to explore what this means for them.

We are united by our common goal of fostering inquisitive minds and developing compassionate, respectful young people who encapsulate our Anglican and Uniting Church values. Students are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to society, making a difference to others by imagining better ways.

The move of our Junior School in 2019 to our Surrey Farm Drive location means that the community is now united on one campus. Our newly updated facilities provide exceptional learning spaces and facilities, and we invite you to visit at any time to experience the Pedare difference personally. You will be welcomed by a community where respect, kindness, inclusivity and compassion permeate our culture.

Christian Ethos

Pedare is an Independent Anglican and Uniting Church School. The College’s culture, aspirations and principles are founded and fostered on our Christian values and traditions and we welcome students from all backgrounds and faiths. As the College Prayer affirms, we celebrate our diversity knowing that it inspires creativity and builds community strength.

Pedare has strong relationships with its Anglican and Uniting Church founding parishes and strives to teach and nurture faith in God. It is our aim to educate young leaders of the future who are distinguished by compassion, to give more than is received, to serve, and to love with God’s guidance and care.

Our Christian Life and Worship programs are designed to open a dialogue with students about God, faith and spirituality. While Pedare openly communicates its Anglican and Uniting Church faith background, the Christian Life program also provides an atmosphere for understanding and respect for the diversity of religions and traditions within our community. We aim always to be sincere, respectful and reflective in spiritual matters, and we encourage our students to explore their own personal faith journey.

Worship and Community Life

The College Chaplains conduct the regular Worship services, supported by students and staff, which is central to our spiritual life. Throughout the year, we also hold special services for key events like Easter and Christmas, allowing the community to gather and reflect on the significance of these times. Daily devotions form an important part of Home Group time, providing a consistent, supportive space for reflection and connection.

Christian Life Curriculum

‘Christian Life’ is a dedicated subject within the Junior and Middle School curriculum. In Senior School, students undertake ‘Religion Studies’ culminating in the SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Religion Studies subject.

These subjects engage students from R–12 with thoughtful reflection on topics such as The Meaning of Life, Who Am I, and Where did I come from? These big questions are continually explored, with students developing increasingly academic perspectives as they move through the years.

• Junior School: The curriculum centres around exploring a variety of Bible stories and characters that teach us fundamental Christian values. We focus on building a foundation for ethical thought through simple stories and meaningful activities.
• Middle School: Students engage with many of the issues that life brings, such as homelessness, discrimination, and forgiveness, and explore how Christian values help us to respect one another and navigate complex situations.
• Senior School: Students study Comparative Religions to understand the global environment. They develop logical reasoning skills in dealing with difficult issues in Situational Ethics and Philosophy. Engagement with Christian Ethics is always a highlight of the course.
