Music
Pedare’s Music program is designed to support diverse skills and aspirations, inviting students to share their musical journeys.
Music Opportunities
Throughout the year, students can perform in bands, choirs and ensembles at various College events and also develop their own solo performance skills and confidence.
Extra-curricular Ensembles
Performing in small or large groups is an integral part of the music program. Ensembles operate at no extra cost and enhance students’ development from their instrumental lessons.
Each ensemble is led by a member of the music department who enjoys sharing their enthusiasm, passion and expertise.
- Concert Band: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
- Stage Band String Ensembles: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, String Quartet
- Vocal Ensembles: Junior Jingles, Melodica Vocal Ensemble, Pedare Voices, Prelude (jazz vocal), Luminaire (advanced jazz vocal)
- Guitar Ensembles: Beginner, Advanced
- Percussion Ensemble
- Worship Band
Events/Performance Opportunities
Students have the opportunity to participate in many College music events, including
- Cabaret Evening
- Music Showcase featuring all College ensembles
- Solo Recital Evenings
- Musicals:
- Junior School Nativity Musical (Years 1-2 annually)
- Junior Musical (Years 4-7: every second year)
- Middle and Senior Musical (Years 8-12: every second year)
The College also participates in the following Music events/competitions:
- Generations in Jazz
- Balaklava Eisteddfod
- ABODA Band and Orchestra Festival
Instrumental/Vocal Lessons
In addition to the classroom Music program, students can also take private instrumental or vocal lessons with specialised tutors during school hours.

Instrument Journey (Years 4-6)
Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 participate in the Instrument Journey, an opportunity to explore a variety of string, woodwind and brass instruments while developing musical skills. This experience aims to inspire students to pursue an instrument further, join the vibrant band culture and continue their musical journey within our specialist, college-funded extension program and beyond.
