Student Life

Community System

Community life is the heart of Pedare, and through it students develop a sense of belonging which fosters College and community spirit.

Our communities aim to establish a strong connection between students and families.

At Pedare we have a unique Community structure which promotes a sense of connectedness and belonging for all of our students and staff.

Every student belongs to one of our Communities: Brooklyn, Eldergreen, Greenwith, Hillcott, Petworth and Surrey. Communities are named after original farms from the Golden Grove area.

In the Middle and Senior Schools, the Community structure is a core element of our pastoral care philosophy. Students enjoy weekly gatherings with their Community with a strong focus on building relationships, connecting students across different year levels and classes. Opportunities such as Swimming Carnivals, Athletics Carnivals, Community Dinners and breakfasts and a range of other community events connect our students through this structure.

Each Community is led by a Community Coordinator who has a key role of proactively supporting students in their life at the College. Our Community Coordinators support the journey of each Pedare student from Year 6 to Year 12, developing close relationships with the student and their families. Our Community Coordinators work closely with Home Group, Core and Subject teachers ensuring that our students’ wellbeing is nurtured.

Junior

We encourage student participation and agency through programs including UR Strong, Zones of Regulation, Growth Mindsets, Life Ed Van and Limitless Thinking. Throughout the year, we host various events to celebrate and learn about the importance of wellbeing, such as friendship workshops, e-safety sessions, transition days and community lunches.

By providing these opportunities, the College helps our students to excel academically, reach their full potential, and lead fulfilling lives.

Middle

The structure of the Middle School ensures that teachers and wellbeing leaders support each student, and work in close partnership with parents. Our commitment to the care and support of our students includes a comprehensive counselling service, which is available to all students from Reception to Year 12.

Senior

Wellbeing & The World Beyond School

Pedare Senior School provides students with experiences and challenges to become global citizens who are able to engage with an ever-changing and interconnected world. Our focus is very much on our students becoming independent learners who take ownership and responsibility for their learning and the goals they aspire to achieve.

Our pastoral care programs deliver a wide range of activities that are designed to help our students make informed choices about their future pathways and to develop essential life skills
