Year 9 Morialta Conservation Park

Categories: Featured |

Year 9 students headed to Morialta Conservation Park for a day centred around connection, fitness and camp preparation. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the park was at its absolute best.

Linking directly to the Health & Physical Education curriculum, the day kicked off with a focus on outdoor fitness. Students took a picturesque walk up the valley to the waterfall, spotting abundant birdlife and even a koala on the way.

A highlight of the excursion was a visit from a National Parks and Wildlife SA Ranger, who spoke to students about the vital importance of conservation and preserving natural environments. They also discussed the powerful benefits spending time outdoors has on our mental health and wellbeing.

With the upcoming school camp fast approaching, students participated in a practical camp preparation session, learning the fine art of how to correctly pack a rucksack to ensure they are ready for their upcoming overnight hike.

Students learned to slow down by spending time sitting in solo silence, journaling and tuning into the natural sounds of the park.

They thoroughly enjoyed exploring the creek and letting their inner child out in the nature playspace and playground. The day wrapped up with a series of team-building games that tested their collaboration skills and resulted in a lot of shared laughter.

Thank you to all the staff and students who made the day such a resounding success. Year 9s represented the school beautifully and are now well and truly ready to tackle camp!
